House Cat Hits: Top House Music Releases of the Week

Stage Hoppers, welcome back for another edition of House Cat Hits! We’ve got a delectable line up of releases for your weekend featuring music by Walker & Royce, Hannah Wants, Mahmut Orhan and more!

Walker & Royce – No Big Deal (Part 2 EP)

Walker & Royce return with a two-tracking offering of their No Big Deal album out  via Dirtybird RecordsThe opener, “I Don’t Remember” with VNSSA is an in-demand deep-tech house driver with relentless rumbling rhythms. Then, Walker & Royce venture into the underground with a drum & bass anthem titled “Tha Tea.” While this genre is not typical of the duo, it still provides their party-centric style while pushing their creative boundaries. Regarding this latest release, Walker & Royce share:

“We are so excited to release this record and continue rolling out No Big Deal. We especially wanted to highlight ‘I Don’t Remember’ as one of our favorites. Working with VNSSA is so inspiring for us and the results are always so special. We are really proud of this one.” – Walker & Royce

Hannah Wants, Sam Divine, Jem Cooke  – “Cruel Intentions”

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records is gearing up for a slew of extra special collaborative releases, “Together,” across the label’s past, present, and future. First on the list for 2024, Hannah Wants, Sam Divine, and Jem Cooke release “Cruel Intentions.” This sleek production grooves with every ounce of its capabilities. Sam Divine and Hannah Wants integrate their unique styles seamlessly while Jem Cooke’ top line glimmers above. “Cruel Intentions” is a highly recommended single for all of our listeners.

Mahmut Orhan – “Andalusian”

Mahmut Orhan announces his debut album, Pangea, with the release of his latest single, “Andalusian,” via Ultra Records. At the center of Orhan’s music is the powerful blend of intercultural sounds and “Andalusian” is the next step in his sonic evolution. Indie dance, melodic techno, and Middle Eastern psytrance are immersed in the arrangement while Lebanese single Ribale Wehbé delivers a truly mesmerizing and dramatic vocal performance. Be sure to listen to the extended mix to enwrap yourself in the sonic tapestry Mahmut Orhan has crafted.

Henry Fong & ANG – “I’m A Freak”

All the freaks are certain to come out with this next release. Henry Fong and ANG land on Dim Mak with this high-octane tech house banger. With its edgy rave synths, hypnotic basslines, and vivacious hook from Kazhi, this track is perfect to ignite the dance floor. With “I’m A Freak” out now, Henry Fong tells us: 

I randomly met up with ANG at a studio session, totally unplanned…they were working at my friend Splyce’s awesome studio in Topanga right down my street, and he told me to roll through. I walked into the studio, they played me some acapella and we just started to get to work…then the idea we made was so sick we just had to finish it and met up again that week!”  

Vintage Culture, Maverick Sabre, Tom Breu – “Weak”

Vintage Culture, Maverick Sabre, and Tom Breu unite on this sleek new single track “Weak.” A smooth blend of deep house beats with soulful vocals creates an absolutely irresistible. The extra layers of musical finesse and suaveness offer listeners an emotive house track that will have the whole dancefloor vibing along.

Gabry Ponte, Robbie Rivera – Hated On (Funkatron)

Gabry Ponte and Robbie Rivera deliver a high-energy dance anthem with “Hated On (Funkatron).” The track causes a raucous with its overdriven synth-work and propulsive bass line. This latest collaboration is an exhilarating ride from start to finish and will surely be a festival driver.

Sick Individuals – “Love Like That”

VARI, Virus Mafia – “Harakiri”

Tulsa-based DJ and producer Vari and Toronto-based Virus Mafia turn up the heat with their latest release “Harakiri,” via Gud Vibrations. With its glitchy melodies, piercing synth-work and abrasive bass, this addition ramps up the intensity for your weekend.

Marsh, Above & Beyond  – Sirens Of The Sea (Marsh Remix)

OceanLab, the chart-topping collaboration between Above & Beyond and singer-songwriter Justine Suissa, has left an undeniable mark on the dance music scene. Through this classic, the ethereal vocals of Suissa, coupled with Above & Beyond’s Balearic-tinged soundscapes, are beautifully revisited in Marsh’s remix of the classic “Sirens Of The Sea.” Marsh, known for his soulful sound and intense dedication to his craft, adds a fresh perspective to the iconic trance anthem, making it a standout track in the forthcoming ‘OceanLab: The Anthology’ project.
