Venturing into the extensive discography of Above & Beyond we find their recent 2021 instrumental single “Screwdriver.” Today, the trio’s Jono Grant drops his “Summer of ’95” mix, featured on their forthcoming Anjunabeats Volume 16 compilation.

The monumental success of this fan-favorite track from the trio’s sold-out Group Therapy 450 festival features a  club-ready A&B sound of oscillating arpeggiations, gliding melodics, and immense bass-grooves. Jono capitalizes on the essence of the original, while incorporating a fresh house vibe. The synergistic groove, composed of alluring percussion and an incisive kick, compliment the vibrant synth melodies and piano riffs derived from the original.

Regarding the new mix, Above & Beyond share: “It’s fair to say most Above & Beyond recordings exist in different forms before they finally reach the festival stage, as ambient beds, acoustic sessions or early groove sketches. ‘Screwdriver’ always made a statement in its supercharged breakbeat guise, but we could always hear echoes of a classic house idea in there as well. Jono’s mix brings this to the fore, giving the whole record a very UK summer feel.

Fellow Stage Hoppers, stay tuned for Anjunabeats Volume 16, mixed by Above & Beyond, set for release next week! In addition, a limited-edition run of physical CD copies and accompanying art print are available to pre-order from the Anjuna Music Store.
