Partywithray, “the dada technicolor hipster of swag house,” releases latest track ” Smile Like Aaliyah.”

The mysterious partywithray burst onto the music scene in October of 2019 with a big statement. His debut track was a dark and compelling collaboration with Grammy-nominated musician and producer Zhu titled “Came for the Low.” With a debut like that, partywithray knows how to deliver his own style and flair, and does so with exceptional musicality and production.

Partywithray delivers a sense of fun and uniqueness, which is apparent in his latest release, “Smile Like Aaliyah.” The opening phrase demands attention with its vibrant palette of synths, rhythmic guitar, and drums. Phrasing over a minimalistic percussion groove, the vocal line evokes attitude through the processed delivery. The repetitive top-line never becomes dull as partywithray offers various timbre and harmonic changes to entice the listener further. His instrumental and effects choices offer new motifs to mesmerize the listener in the lively dance atmosphere of “Smile Like Aaliyah.”

In regards to “Smile Like Aaliyah,” partywithray says:

“‘Smile Like Aaliyah’ is one of those songs that had few different versions over the last two years – I knew I loved the vocal melody and processing but the beat and bass line weren’t hitting right for a while. Once I added some chords, guitar, and vocal chops I started getting some Daft Punk energy and I LOVE DAFT PUNK. I finished the song from there and it captures the emotion and energy of the message perfectly. The message is simple – it’s about celebrating self-love and finding someone who treats you right!”

This new kid on the block is definitely one to watch, and we look forward to more delectable music from partywithray.

“Smile Like Aaliyah” by partywithray was released on Friday, September 17th, 2021.
