Famous Spear brings the heat with latest track “Divergent” released via Bass Planet Media and premiered right here on Stage Hoppers!
Roger Bush, professionally known as Famous Spear, is a Canadian musician known for his signature blend of robotic and melodic bass music. His musical scope extends through elements of dubstep, house, and drum & bass, while pushing his style and sound design to its limits. Famous Spear has already begun to gain traction in the vast music scene. From release via labels such as Yacht, Reinelex, 04 Collective, and Rushdown, to garnering support amongst artists like Au5, Kompany, Chime, and Ace on huge festival stages like Lost Lands, Famous Spear is on the upward trajectory.
“Divergent” demands attention from the listener right from its inception. The poignant melodic motif that resurfaces in different timbres throughout the track pushes the energy and tension. The gnarly sound design that engulfs the drop evokes the power of a mechanized monstrosity of sound, stomping forward with every powerful kick. The melodic elements re-introduced throughout the track offer contrast for the heavier elements featured in the builds and drops. Each section of “Divergent” builds upon what was previously established. With dubstep/heavy bass music, it’s so easy to simply put layers upon layers of sounds to make it “heavy,” but Famous Spear showcases his precise production by utilizing previous elements with slight variations to keep the listener engaged.
In regards to the musical thought process that produced “Divergent,” Famous Spear states:
“My goal when writing Divergent was to create a heavy bass track, but combine melodic elements to inject some contrast and evoke a sense of spirit. I’m happy to release this track with Bass Planet whom I met almost a year ago at a music performance video shoot. They are a very passionate group of music lovers and I’m glad to be working with them on this release!”
