The New York native duo of YOOKiE make their WAKAAN debut on with “GRiME SHT” while gearing up for their forthcoming EP, WOOKiE. With the EP set for release in spring of 2022, this drop of their lead single gives listeners a new YOOKiE blend of leftfield bass and trap. “GRiME SHT” is exactly how it sounds. A grimey, sub-bass hittin track with wobbly wubz and sinister flow. The minimalistic sound design focuses attention on the eerie melodic motif, while allowing the sub-frequencies to break the surface. The vocals, provided by the brothers, glide effortlessly over the trap inspired grooves and accentuate the filthy beats.
“GRiME SHT” follows the release of “Bubble Bass,” their stellar original track which received support from Excision, Slander, NGHTMRE, and Subtronics. This latest singe has also been receiving support from Liquid Stranger, showing this one love for his legendary ‘‘Spaghetti Time’ while out on the road. “GRiME SHT” will hit sound systems as one of the trap anthems of the year over at WAKAAN!
”On GRiME SHT we went with our signature minimalistic bass driven sound while also introducing a brand new vocal direction. It maintains the luscious subsonic depth we are known for with a new element we hope our fans like. A new Era of YOOKiE is upon us and we’re very grateful to Wakaan for believing in this project.” – YOOKiE
“GRiME SHT” by YOOKiE was released on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022, via WAKAAN.
More About YOOKiE
The art within the artificial: instrumentation computed in utter harmony with the brains of those willing to lend themselves, their ears, and their youth to the ends of ecstasy. Bass presence hums through a melody that leaves a gathering bouncing to its pulse; a perfect synergy of careless consequence and pure energy. It all centers around a single name: “YOOKiE.”
New York natives, YOOKiE, have cemented themselves as one of the most exciting up-and-coming acts in all of bass music. Embraced by their contemporaries for their unparalelled sound and production, YOOKiE have collaborated with the likes of Zeds Dead, Slander, Sullivan King, Nitti Gritti, Wooli, Kompany, and Black Tiger Sex Machine. YOOKiE have played some of the biggest bass music stages in North America including EDC Las Vegas, Ever After Music Festival, Lost Lands, and Bass Canyon and have played shows to raucous audiences all over the world in Australia, New Zealand, China, and Japan.
After being the first artist to release an EP on Excison’s Subsidia label and having released a massive collaboration with Zeds Dead, 2020 has been a pivotal year of growth for the duo and there are even more exciting releases on the way in 2021.
