Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says it’s time to open Texas 100%, end statewide mask mandate. Starting next Wednesday, the mask mandate in Texas will be lifted and all businesses can operate at 100% capacity. Businesses can still choose to require masks and lower their capacity, but they will not be required by law.
Concert halls, large venues, and stadiums can operate at full capacity with no mask restrictions if they so choose. Few of Texas’s biggest festivals such as ACL and Freaky Deaky are on schedule for October.
It will take time for most promoters to plan for festival returns. We can expect announcements for club shows to begin immediately for the surviving venues. Other states may soon follow in Texas footsteps but until most states have opened we will most likely not see any major tour announcements.
