It’s cuffing season and there’s a few dating apps we’re sharing to help you find cool, authentic people through music. Discover new friends or find your soulmate with streaming-based algorithms and connect on shared music, which makes interactions easy, natural and fun. Take the relationship to the next level by finding shows and festivals near you with your new friend or rave bae. See our list of free dating apps based on music taste below.

Vinylly

Match with people with similar music tastes on Vinylly. This app learns about you through the music you love, and in doing so, puts the needle on true compatibility. Connect to your Spotify (although, no streaming account is needed to sign up), share songs & chat! When you stream more music, Vinylly uses that data to produce new matches. The app also has a “suggest a concert” feature that encourages users to stop chatting and start dating, which offers a better chance at finding real relationships.

Power of Music (POM)

POM is great for casual flirting or more serious relationships and deep connections, but not for quick, casual hookups. POM uses your Spotify or Apple Music data (although, you have the option not to sync your accounts) by analyzing which genres you listen to. From there, it will match you with members who have the same taste. It will also display your top Spotify or Apple Music tracks on your profile. With POM, you get to dedicate and share songs when swiping. There’s no “super-liking” – only sincere, impactful moves. POM is not currently available in the US, however, POM invites its single users often to free events for nights filled with music, drinks and venues across the UK.

Tastebuds

Tastebuds is great for making new friends, finding concert buddies, and of course, dating! Browse your music matches and send them a song to break the ice. Scan your iPhone music library or add your favorite bands to see people nearby who have the most in common with you. You can also save cool tracks you discover while browsing profiles.

Turn-Up

Similar to Tastebuds, you can look for new friends or love by adjusting your settings to “friends” mode or “dates” mode, and make unlimited blind tests. To like someone’s profile, you can either try their blind test, send them a direct message or “swipe” the profile to the right. If the person replies, enjoy your new match and chat as much as you like! All you have to do is fill in your descriptions, and if you lack inspiration, Turn-Up helps guide you with music-oriented prompts. You can then instantly discover nearby people who share your musical taste.
