Disco Donnie Presents and LIVE partnered for one of the best winter raves this year at Tahoe’s largest ski resort, Palisades Tahoe. EDM enthusiasts met a recreational heaven for two nights of lights, dancing, and of course, electronic bangers.
Music
REZZ and DJ Diesel headlined the fest, which cultivated an atmosphere of excitement for first-time ravers and veterans alike. Night one comprised bass artists with Boogie T’s trippy visuals and Rusko’s high-energy DNB set. Night two was more house-heavy. House queens Nostalgix and J. Worra opened the floor for Disco Lines, who of course played his upbeat dance favorites.
Production
A “Tahoe Live” logo and eye-catching graphics projected onto the mountain, creating a unique backdrop for the show. The CO2 machines mixed with the natural fog of the cold weather helped magnify the lasers as they glistened in the air above the crowd. I also really liked the set up of the floor – there were two sides of the stage, allowing headbangers to ride the rail all night long. The sound was well engineered, reaching the audience from all angles of the stage.
Experience
The festival’s ability to blend musical euphoria with the tranquility of Lake Tahoe’s embrace ensured that each attendee departed not just with a playlist of favorite tunes but with a heart full of cherished memories. There weren’t as many PLUR-friendly folks in the crowd as I had imagined, but I’m assuming it’s because this was somewhat of a low-key festival with mostly locals who are new to the scene or college students on break. The VIP experience also wasn’t what I had hoped for. It had only a few space heaters and chairs (didn’t have unique photo ops, exclusive drink menu, etc). I loved the Bang Energy tent though, where free cans supplied fans with a tasty refuel after hitting the slopes all day.
Tahoe Live was an incredible way to kick off the 2023-2024 ski season. It was an unforgettable weekend filled with music, snow, and adventure at a legendary mountain.
