If John Summit’s ”LIGHTS GO OUT” has been stuck in your head this week, you’re not the only one. The original single itself is a collision, an anthemic vocal hook (“where do we go when the lights go out”) that opens into fast-paced tech-house energy and thunderous synths. It’s the first taste of his upcoming album, CTRL ESCAPE dropping April 15th, that frames his journey from 9–5 accountant to global DJ, exploring the tension between daytime monotony and rave liberation. Summit plans to release a new single every other Wednesday leading up to the album’s fitting Tax Day release.

Visually, the accompanying video drives the concept home, tracing Summit’s journey from cubicles and fluorescent office lights to the chaos and freedom of club culture. It mirrors the broader narrative of CTRL ESCAPE, which reframes the duality explored on Summit’s debut Comfort in Chaos through a new lens.
Johnsummithq’s #LGOREMIX contest closes today (02/06/2026), with winners to be revealed February 13th and selected by John for an official release. What’s notable about this remix moment is how bass culture has answered the call. Producers from dubstep and riddim to bass and bass‑house have taken the track’s house backbone and recontextualized it with their own unique sound.
Dennett, one of the first artists to remix the single (before the contest even began) spent an all‑nighter working on a standout remix, which was featured on John’s page and helped spark the wave. Other viral edits include Capochino’s, where he also called out his immigrant background against the backdrop of current events in the U.S, AVELLO’s and Big Florida’s. HOL! also hopped on the remix wave with his riddim edition. These bass-heavy versions, along with many others, show how a single club-ready hook can be refitted across scenes.
For artists and fans of house, dubstep, riddim, bass, and electronic music, this week has been a reminder of how remix culture collapses genre borders. “LIGHTS GO OUT” functions as both a dancefloor anthem and a template for reinvention, exactly the ethos behind CTRL ESCAPE.
We’ll be watching which remixes make the cut on Feb 13. Which has been your favorite remix? Let us know!
