The crossover nobody expected but everybody needed is officially landing in Denver this spring. Elijah Wood (yes, Frodo Baggins) is stepping behind the decks for a Lord of the Rings–themed DJ set at one of Denver’s most iconic independent venues, Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom.

Taking place Sunday, May 31, Wood will perform alongside longtime collaborator Zach Cowie as their vinyl DJ project Wooden Wisdom. The event is so hot, it’s already sold out.

From Mordor to the Dancefloor

Fresh off celebrating 25 years of The Lord of the Rings at Fan Expo Denver, Wood is leaning fully into the fantasy for this one-night-only experience. The event is being billed as a LOTR-themed rave, with costumes highly encouraged.

Hobbits, elves, and orcs come together for one of the most unique shows Denver has seen all year.

About Wooden Wisdom

The duo, who have been DJing together for over 15 years, are known for spinning eclectic, vinyl-only selections that span rare gems and beloved classics, with a heavy emphasis on ‘70s and ‘80s disco. Wood and Cowie were brought together by their shared love of records, after meeting at a party hosted by fashion designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy. Their chemistry lies in contrast: Wood’s passion and curiosity paired with Cowie’s deep musical knowledge.

A Fantasy-Themed Event

From previous tour stops, fans have noted that the show is not soundtrack edits and Tolkien-coded drops. While the Denver stop is a fully fantasy-driven theme, Wooden Wisdom’s sets are rooted in crate-digging culture. Think acid rock, African funk, and unexpected grooves rather than a strictly cinematic setlist.

One Night in Middle Earth

Beyond Denver, the duo is continuing their run with stops in cities like Orlando, Kansas City, Toronto, and Dallas, but this Denver date stands out as the only explicitly Lord of the Rings-themed event on the schedule.

Set inside the intimate walls of Cervantes’, this show promises a rare kind of magic, where underground disco collides with fantasy lore.
