Making Moves with Maddix: Exclusive Interview

Pablo Rindt isn’t just a Dutch DJ and Producer- he’s a visionary. Known professionally as Maddix, he has made waves in the EDM industry for his unique blend of Big Room, Techno, and Trance. A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to interview Maddix on the first stop of his North America tour in Toronto, Canada. In this exclusive interview, we discuss his upcoming tour, relationship with Hardwell, and more:

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little about your music?

I’m a DJ and Producer from the Netherlands signed to Revealed Recordings, and I just got my own label called ‘Extatic‘. My music style used to be more like Big Room, but now it has more influences from Techno and Trance music.

This is the first stop on your U.S. and Canada tour, and your first time ever performing in Canada. What is it like performing in a new city or new country for the first time?

Well- this is special. Toronto is special. The show sold out four weeks in advance, which has never happened for me before. This is a special night. But it’s always exciting to do something new.

What should fans look forward to as you continue your tour?

It’s many firsts. This is my first time in Canada performing in Toronto, first time performing at EDC Orlando, and first time performing in LA. Fans can look for new music and lots of new sounds at every show.

What is it like to be a part of Revealed Recordings. How do you think this has impacted your career?

When I first signed with Revealed about 6-7 years ago, they helped tremendously with getting my music out there and helping me grow. It’s really been like being part of a big family. I’m really good friends with Hardwell- Robbert- the owner of Revealed Recordings- he’s just been so supportive. I wouldn’t be where I am without him and without Revealed. They have also been very minded and encouraging with my changing sound. They have really supported me heading more in the Techno direction- which I think has become a big movement in the whole industry now. Revealed has supported me through everything.

Let’s talk about Hardwell. You mentioned you’re good friends with him, and that you’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with him on many tracks. Do you have a favorite track that you two have ever worked on?

That’s a tough question. I think my favorite is ‘ACID’. It’s one of our most recent and one of the most fun. Every time one of us plays it, the crowd just goes insane. Everyone knows the words and loves to sing along. Another track that has done really well is ‘Bella Ciao’. That track is more of my old sound, but it became so crazy big. It was my first really, really big release and I’ll always like that one too.

What is your favorite EDM song of all time?

I have really good memories of Avicii- ‘Levels’. It’s a completely different genre for me, but I remember as a teenager listening to it all the time.

Last question for you- what is the most embarrassing moment you have ever had on stage?

There was a show where I was jumping around and the cable of my headphones hit the play button and then the button stopped working properly. The technicians came and actually pulled out the wrong cables, so there were two times in that one show where the music completely stopped and it went completely silent. I felt so ashamed- and it wasn’t even really my fault- but everyone in the club was just staring at me and I felt a bit embarrassed all night.
