Deadbeats NYC 2024: Top 3 Sets That Stole the Show

Photo Opportunity at Dead Beats NYC 2024

Deadbeats NYC 2024 was nothing short of extraordinary. This year, it took place at Avant Gardner, with The Brooklyn Mirage as the main room and The Kings Hall dedicated to drum and bass.

We arrived before doors opened and found a line of excited fans already waiting to get inside. Attendees were greeted by a massive inflatable Deadbeats sign at the entrance, offering a fun photo opportunity. There was also a corner dedicated to exclusive Deadbeats merch. I had the pleasure of interviewing ravers who were eager to show off their creative rave outfits.

As the night unfolded, every performance kept the energy high and the crowd dancing! Here’s a breakdown of my top three sets that stole the show at Deadbeats NYC 2024:

1. Lumasi

Lumasi’s tracks are characterized by intricate melodies and lush synths, creating an immersive auditory experience that captivates audiences. As the opening act, Lumasi drew a crowd even before doors opened, with fans eager to witness his performance live.

Set Highlights

Lumasi’s performance set the tone for the rest of the night, establishing an electric energy that resonated throughout the venue. This was my first time seeing Lumasi live, but it certainly won’t be my last. I’ve become a new Lumasi fan!

2. ALLEYCVT B2B Levity

ALLEYCVT and Levity teamed up for a B2B performance that showcased their unique styles and undeniable synergy.

As someone newer to bass music, I was excited to see both artists for the first time, and their performance did not disappoint.

Set Highlights

ALLEYCVT B2B Levity opened their set with their new collaboration, “One for You!” The track was a standout with its catchy beats and energetic vibe, instantly getting the crowd warmed up.

This Duo is renowned for flipping classics. Their popular Tame Impala flip was another highlight and kept the energy high and the crowd moving.

ALLEYCVT and Levity’s infectious energy translated into the crowd’s enthusiasm, making their performance a highlight of the night.

3. Zeds Dead

Zeds Dead needs no introduction. As the founders of Deadbeats, their set was the most anticipated of the night, and they delivered an unforgettable performance. They blended heavy basslines, intricate melodies, and powerful drops to create a sonic experience like no other.

During their two-hour set, the crowd was mesmerized by the Mirage’s screens, which added to the immersive experience. Their ability to blend pop culture references with their music kept the audience entertained and engaged throughout.

Set Highlights

Zeds Dead kicked off their set with “O Superman,” featuring eerie visuals that got everyone silent. The crowd erupted with excitement during their collaboration with Griz, “Ecstasy of the Soul,” chanting “Griz, yeah, Zeds Dead” in unison, creating a euphoric atmosphere. Another standout moment was their remix of Frank Sinatra’s classic “New York, New York,” which transitioned into their hit “Frontlines.”

The Mirage’s screens, pyro, lights, and lasers created an amazing ambiance, finishing with a final mashup of Willy Wonka and John Lennon’s “Imagine” and stunning rainbow lasers.

Zeds Dead’s performance was the highlight of Deadbeats NYC 2024. Their remixes perfectly resonated with the New York vibe, making the set personal and unforgettable.

Conclusion

Deadbeats NYC 2024 was my first Deadbeats event, and it certainly won’t be my last. One of the coolest aspects of the series is their commitment to bringing different members from the Deadbeats crew to each event. No two events are the same, making this series so special!
