When I first heard this EP I just knew I had to get it on the Stage Hoppers Music Blog. DJ and producer TONEZ has a knack for “all things bass” and delivers exactly that with his brand new SPACE COWBOY EP. Composed of 5 original tracks spanning an array of genres, this genre-bending EP “channels the grit of classic western films and cosmic intensity of sci-fi soundscapes.”
TONEZ introduces the EP with “Far Away” showing early on the eclectic influences of hip-hop, trap, bass, and more to come. The rising producer grabs your attention with a precise sound design conveying various tone shifts. I absolutely vibed with the stuttering final drop shifting the intergalactic journey to a new realm. Up next, and my personal favorite from the EP, we have “Alien Blaster,” a blend of 140 BPM dubstep and trap with a western sci-fi twist. The darker tone, warping bass hits, and laser-like synths create an otherworldly soundscape that one can easily get lost in.
The energy of the EP immediately shifts with the rampant energy of “DANGER.” This track is a serious drum & bass weapon that will have the dance floor erupt. Continuing with that high energy, TONEZ unveils “Ballistic,” a chaotic, bass-heavy tune infused with pure adrenaline. In order to wrap up the space journey, “Alright” serves as the culmination of all the influences presented throughout SPACE COWBOY.
TONEZ did not hold back with these 5 bangers highlighting various sides of the heavier side of EDM: 140 BPM dubstep to hybrid trap, hip hop, and drum & bass. We can’t wait to hear what comes next!
